I have, on the whole, been fortunate with most of my book covers so far, but yours is my favourite of all - clear, classical, ironic, understated, and beautifully designed.
I tried very hard to make GENTS work on these two level, as ultra-realistic narrative, and also as fable.
What I most like about the cover is a kind of visual parallel. On one level, the cover is hyper-realistic - look at the drip beneath the cloth. On another level, it is a beautiful piece of abstract design - I love the balancing of the various red items against the grey, and the way all important meanings seem to converge in the red.
So, I really couldn’t have asked for a cover more perfectly suited to the content of the book.
